South Africa’s 18-member squad for the three-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan arrived in Lahore on Wednesday. The visiting team will be led by wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen in the shortest format for three matches against the hosts.
The heavily inexperienced squad includes only four players from the current 21-man Test squad present in the country including Dwaine Pretorius, Lutho Sipamla, Tabraiz Shamsi and George Linde. Majority of players missing from the squad were supposed to return back home for the Test series against Australia.
On other hand, Fakhar Zaman and Wahab Riaz have been dropped while Mohammad Hafeez has been excluded from Pakistan’s 20-man squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
Other notable omissions also include Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim. Shadab had led the side in their T20I series against New Zealand last month, which they lost 2-1. There are also four uncapped players in the side – left-arm spinner Zafar Gohar, all-rounder Danish Aziz, leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood and bowling all-rounder Amad Butt.
Meanwhile, Hasan Ali, Asif Ali and Aamer Yamin have been recalled.
